After a lifetime of interest and studies in the arts, Peter Billington earned his BA in painting from Cleveland State University in 1995. Other education includes studies abroad at Parsons School of Design, Paris, France and studies in glass painting, including replication of traditional techniques, for five years under the renowned master glass painter, Richard Millard, at the Millard Studios.

Peter began working full-time at Whitney Stained Glass Studio in 1998, and became the studio's primary painter in 2000. Peter worked with mentor James Whitney until his untimely death in late 2005. Peter continued to operate the studio after Mr. Whitney's passing and purchased the studio in 2007.

He has used his painting skills replicating work from such studios as Mayer, Zettler, Connick, Burnham and RT Wright. He is also skilled at reverse painting on a cover plate in an effort to mask deteriorated and missing glass paint, such as done for the face in the Tiffany Studio "Good Shephard" window at Church of the Covenant.

Studio founder James Whitney was a Research Fellow in the Sacred Landmarks Initiative at Cleveland State University where he conducted and published research on the science of stained glass restoration and on the history of stained glass in America.. During his more than thirty years of experience, he restored numerous stained glass windows including some as old as the fourteenth century.

Whitney Studio is a four-time recipient of The Cleveland Builders Exchange Craftsmanship Award. The studio's restoration of windows at Trinity Cathedral was honored with an Award of Excellence from the SGAA and the studio has also received awards and recognition from the Cleveland Restoration Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Whitney Stained Glass is affiliate member of the Stained Glass Association of America and member of the American Glass Guild. The studio is committed to quality, craftsmanship and customer service.
